In this lecture, I cover the concept of Photosynthesis, the mechanism that plants use to produce energy and to make their food from the energy they obtain from the sun. It’s the process of converting LIGHT energy into CHEMICAL energy. ATP is produced in this process.
I also get into why we see different colors in terms of what wavelengths of light are being absorbed vs reflected. Lastly, I go through the 2 stages of Photosynthesis: Light-dependent and light-independent reactions, with some custom animations to illustrate the steps of those reactions.
This is part of Chapter 9 in the textbook Biology: The Dynamics of Life, which is the chapter on Energy of the Cell.
Outline
- What is Photosynthesis?
- Where Photosynthesis Happens
- Color: How it works
- The two Phases of Photosynthesis
Thank you so very much for making it so elementary for me. I cannot wait for my 2 children to come home from school (MPC Sint Maarten) to share your lecture with them.
By the way I know your Mom and Annick went to CUC with me………A looooong time ago.
I got this link from soencouragement.org.

Very helpful! I like to get a basis from a video before I begin to go over my notes and the book! This was great for that purpose and definitely made things much simpler!

I’ve just watched this video on photosynthesis, it’s now a lot clearer, I can go back to my text book and hope to understand what it is trying to tell me. Thank you
ohmygod thank you soo much!! I was sure i was going to fail the test i have tomorrow since i didnt understand this whole process and now its crystal clear! You are such a genius omg u saved my grade 😀
